Dameon reflects on the night that changed his life, a night clouded by drugs and alcohol that led to his incarceration. Determined to turn his life around, he committed to his studies while in prison, a decision that paved the way for his graduation from Rutgers University and his career as a licensed social worker. In 2020, after organizing marches in response to George Floyd’s murder, Dameon built a strong partnership with local law enforcement and now serves as the community police alliance coordinator for the Bridgewater Police Department in New Jersey, supporting youth and community members. Through every challenge, he credits his unwavering faith: “My trust in Jesus Christ… without him, none of this happens.”
